LEAH

Leah is one of the coaches at Semiahmoo Athletic Club. She began coaching in October 2024 after earning her CF L1 Trainer certification and has loved every moment of it since. Growing up, Leah played various team sports including softball, volleyball, and basketball, which made her immediately drawn to the community aspect of CrossFit when her sister suggested she give it a try. She started her CrossFit journey in 2015 as a first-year university student in need of a fitness routine, and though she took breaks from the sport over the years, she always came back. For the past four years, Leah has trained consistently in CrossFit. While she enjoys witnessing her own personal growth in the sport, she finds even greater fulfillment in watching others improve and succeed. Outside of the gym, Leah can usually be found in the mountains, adventuring and enjoying the great outdoors.

COACH

GRACIE

Fitness, sports, and healthy living have been a part of Gracie’s life since childhood. Growing up with a passion for working out and competing, Gracie was constantly striving to improve fitness and performance. She played soccer, danced competitively, and performed in circus arts. Eight years ago, Gracie walked into Semiahmoo Athletic Club and instantly fell in love with CrossFit, drawn by the positive and uplifting environment created by Joe and Sharan.

Soon after, Gracie fully immersed herself in CrossFit, facing some challenges along the way that taught valuable lessons and enriched her knowledge and experience as both an athlete and a trainer. Over the years, she has competed in multiple international CrossFit competitions, including reaching the semi-finals in 2023. She continues to aim for even larger competitions, with the CrossFit Games as her ultimate goal.

Gracie’s ambitions as an elite athlete parallel her dedication to helping others achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals. After starting to coach CrossFit six years ago, she pursued further certification through ACE to deepen her expertise. She believes that personal training goes beyond the gym, focusing on building strong relationships with clients to understand their individual goals and set them up for long-term success and happiness. Gracie is committed to creating a positive and comfortable environment, ensuring that clients have fun along the way. Believing that anyone can achieve their goals, Gracie is passionate about being part of others’ fitness journeys at the Semiahmoo Athletic Club, a place she considers her home away from home.

COACH

STACEY

Stacey has over 12 years of experience in CrossFit as an athlete and has been a valued member of the Semiahmoo Athletic family since 2015. She began her coaching career in 2018 after obtaining her Level 1 certification and truly enjoys all aspects of being a coach. Stacey is inspired by people's effort, dedication, and drive to improve themselves, and she was eager to play an “official” role in that growth. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a coach for Stacey is watching individuals transform their lives through fitness and the community that CrossFit offers, just as it did for her. Her passion for self-improvement led her to complete her Level 2 coaching certification in July 2022. When she’s not in the gym, Stacey dedicates her time to reading and researching health and fitness, particularly focusing on women's health. She has a keen interest in wellness during the peri and post-menopausal years. Stacey enjoys her favourite movements, which include kettlebell swings and box jumps, and she can handle burpees like a pro. She finds the ongoing process of Olympic weight lifting exhilarating and occasionally coaches our Olympic lifting class. While she would be fine never seeing a wall ball again, as a true CrossFitter, she embraces any workout of the day that comes her way.

Beyond her work in fitness, Stacey also serves as a registered sign language interpreter within the Deaf community.  She loves spending time with her animals and the people she loves.

Stacey is available for private (1-on-1) training sessions and can also assist members who are new to CrossFit with foundational training.  She revels in helping people move in ways they never thought possible, lift weights and get stronger in ways that might surprise them.  If you’re not sure how to start, Stacey can get you going. She loves working with all athletes but has a soft spot for “masters” athletes (over 40) and large bodied athletes. Her goal is that you feel seen, safe and accepted.
